Why is "See Culture," a Cultural Platform, Hosting Stretch Classes?
Many of you know SEE Network, the founding organization of See Culture (seeculture.hk), through our work in promoting various cultural, community planning research, and experiential activities. As a result, you might wonder: why would a cultural platform suddenly start hosting stretching? Isn’t that quite a leap?
The truth is, culture and daily life are deeply intertwined. Only when we are physically well can our minds stay sharp and our creativity flow endlessly. Modern urbanites lead fast-paced lives, making aches and pains almost inevitable. This is especially true for those dedicated to crafts, arts, or writing; maintaining the same posture for hours leaves the body much tighter than we realize. We believe that just as cultivating culture requires the patience of "slow living," our bodies also deserve the time to slow down and be cared for.
Last night, we hosted our very first "Get Loose" Stretching Experience Class. A group of friends temporarily put aside their work after hours to explore their bodies and limbs under the guidance of our instructor, Sharon Ng. During the session, participants challenged themselves with movements they rarely get to do in daily life, using various foam rollers to precisely target and release deep fascial tension.
The atmosphere was incredibly lively, filled with a chorus of "painful yet amazing" groans echoing through the room. Although it came with some soreness, the sense of relief afterward was pure bliss! It wasn't just a fitness class; it was a therapeutic dialogue between body and mind.
To help more people learn this simple routine of self-care, instructor Sharon Ng will continue to host these classes in the future. If you also want to reclaim your body's freedom of movement, stay tuned for our updates and join us to "get loose" next time!
