Dads & Kids Brave Lai Chi Wo Together!
Lai Chi Wo Village isn't massive, but it's certainly not small either. For 3 to 5-year-olds, everything here is brand new! Just a quick stroll to see the mangroves, farmlands, and feng shui woods is enough to keep their eyes wide open—and tire them out just in time to head back to the village for lunch. 🍱
The weather lately has been a mix of rain and shine. Last week, our group of nearly 90 braved a sudden downpour to get on the bus and boat. It was a bit chaotic for a moment, but courage brought us some luck: during the boat ride, we were accompanied by Black-naped Terns that had flown all the way from Indonesia! 🐦✨ Looking at the rocky shores from afar, the kids started imagining things that made absolutely no sense to the adults, cracking themselves up. Inside the village, seeing cow dung, giant spiders, and friendly village dogs had them caught in that classic "too scared to look, but too curious to turn away" mindset. 😂
The social worker who organized this parent-child outing added a special twist this time: only Dads were allowed to bring the kids! With Moms sitting this one out, dozens of dads had to juggle holding hands, carrying toddlers, managing lunchtime, and helping with crafts. Honestly? It was incredibly sweet. 🥰 On the way back, the social worker asked the kids to give their dads a big hug and say thank you!
For toddlers, a hike of just over an hour is plenty. In the afternoon, with some DIY crafts, learning numbers 1 to 10 through traditional Hakka cards, and a tour guide bringing out little prehistoric models for them to touch, any corner of Lai Chi Wo can instantly transform into a children's paradise. 🎡
